Minimum Wage Increase from 1 July, 2012
Are you paying your employees enough?
Fair Work Australia has announced that the award minimum wages will increase as of 1 July 2012.
Weekly minimum wages under all Modern Awards will increase by 2.9% as of the first pay period after 1 July 2012. Weekly wages for all employees covered under an award must be reviewed to ensure that your business is complying with the award rates.
The national minimum wage, for employees who aren’t covered by an award, has increased to $606.40 per week, or $15.96 per hour, which is an increase of $17.10 per week. This rate is also the rate payable to workers classified as Level C14 under the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2010.
In addition, the high income threshold will increase to $123,300. Any high income guarantees in place in your workplace will need to be reassessed, noting the new threshold.
