"The team at Watkins Tapsell not only did the legal work, but they also introduced me to other local business people who I now do regular business with. It really added more to the service"

With the consequences of the
financial crisis rippling through
Australian businesses, it may be time
to consider your position in respect
of the solvency of your contracting
or trading partners.
Have you recently received a notice of impending
receivership or liquidation in respect of a tenant,
supplier, contractor or subcontractor?
Are you
having difficulties obtaining payment from a party
to a contract?
Whether you are a party to a lease, a
construction contract or a supply contract,
most leases and contracts include provisions
relating to the rights of parties in the event of
the insolvency of one of the parties.
Such rights usually include the termination of the
agreement.
You may be concerned about how termination
would affect your right to receive payments or
any obligations you may have to make payments
under the lease or contract.
There may also be other options available to
you such as the appointment of a receiver or
commencing winding up proceedings in respect
of the insolvent party.
The team of experienced solicitors and debt
recovery experts at Watkins Tapsell are able to
help you with any of these issues.
