Merna graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a double degree in Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (majoring in English Text and Writing).

She commenced her legal career working for the Attorney General’s Department of NSW, now the Department of Justice. During her time with the Department she assisted Judicial Officers and Registrars with the daily administration and conduct of the Local Court and Children’s Court.

Merna was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2016. She commenced practising law at a general law firm as a criminal defence lawyer and assisted clients with general litigation.

Since joining Watkins Tapsell Solicitors, Merna has worked with the Commercial Litigation and Employment Law team.

Merna has during her spare time volunteered at the Speed Alcohol Vehicle Education Program (SAVE) with the presentation of their Legal System Component in the Traffic Offenders Intervention Program (TOIP). She has also volunteered with the Salvation Army Will’s day promotions.

Merna is open minded in her dealings with clients and in her approach to legal matters.
