Watkins Tapsell PUBLIC NOTARY
Statutory powers to authenticate documents
Peter Rusbourne, Partner at Watkins Tapsell, is a Public Notary, having been appointed by the Chief Justice of New South Wales on 1 October 2010.
A Public Notary is a public officer, usually a practising solicitor or attorney, who is appointed for life by a State or Territory Supreme Court and given statutory powers to authenticate documents, administer oaths and perform other duties of this nature.
Unlike Justices of the Peace (JPs), who are appointed under State law and cannot witness documents of a foreign nature, a Public Notary is recognised almost anywhere in the world.
